2 houses looted in Munshiganj

Robbers looted valuables from two houses at Madhya Kamargaon village in Srinagar upazila early Tuesday.

Local sources said a gang of bandits numbering 12-14 stormed into the houses of expatriate Hasan and rice trader Liton Bepari late at night.

They took the house inmates hostages at gunpoint and looted 50 tolas gold ornaments, Tk 2 lakh in cash, bank DD of Tk 12 lakh and eight mobile phone sets.

Three people, including Liton were also injured in the attack by the hoodlums as they tried to resist them.

Later, a police patrol team chased the robbers while they were fleeing with a trawler. But the bandits managed to escape after exchange of gunshots with the law-enforcers.
