20 injured in Munshiganj clash

At least 20 people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers at Mohespur village in Sadar upazila Friday afternoon.

Officer-in-charge of Sadar police station M Shahidul Islam told UNB that the two groups, one led by Sarkar and another by Dewan, locked into an altercation over establishing supremacy at the village at about 3:30 pm.

At one stage, the two groups equipped with firearms and sharp weapons attacked each other.

Both the groups exchanged gunshots and blasted homemade bombs during the fierce clash, leaving 20 people injured.

Of the injured six, including the upazila unit Chhatra League (BCL) convener Khairul Islam Pavel, were hit by bullets and admitted to local health complex and clinics.

Later, Pavel, 30, was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in a critical condition.

On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
