AL-JCD clash injures 15 in Srinagar in Munshiganj

At 25 people, including journalists and police, were injured during a clash between Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and Awami League (AL) at Srinagar upazila headquarters in Munshiganj Sunday.

The clash ensued when JCD activists attacked on an Awami League (AL) rally brought out marking the Independence Day.

Police had to fire rubber bullets to control the situation.

After the attacks, agitated AL activists ransacked a number of motor vehicles and seven stages and arches built by the ruling party.

Among the injured people, condition of thana AL general secretary Tofazzal Hossain, ASP Iqbal Pathan, Officer-in-charge (OC) Nur Hossain and newsman Bashiruddin Jewel was stated to be critical.

AL leaders alleged that JCD activists led by its government college President Mamun attacked the AL rally while it was passing the college.

Witnesses said during the clash, both the JCD and AL activists used sticks and pelted stones at each other.

A tense situation was prevailing in the area.
