Tree, fruit fair begins in Munshiganj

A three-day long tree and fruit fair has begun in Munshiganj today. The fair will continue till July 9. Different nurseries, agricultural farms and health related organisations have joined this fair on the premises of DC Court building. The fair area has been beautifully decorated to attract the people of all strata. An inaugural ceremony was arranged after a colourful procession. The procession started from the DC court area. Students of different educational institutions, government officials and agricultural extension workers joined the procession in the morning that carried different placards and festoons in support of planting more trees. The procession paraded the main through fares of the town and ended on the DC court premises.
The fair has been jointly organised by district administration, directorate of forestry and agricultural extension department.

M Idris Ali, MP and president, parliamentary standing committee on defence ministry, attended the function as the chief guest. Alhaj Momtaj Begum, MP attended it as the special guest. Md Shafiqul Islam police super, Munshiganj, Md Mofazzal Hossain CEO, Munshiganj Zila Parishad, Md Anisuzzaman upazila chairman and pourashava Mayor advocate Mujibur Rahman were also present at the inaugural function was chaired by Md Azizul Alam, DC, Munshiganj.

The welcome address was given by Shirina Khatun, divisional forest officer, social afforestation, Dhaka.

AKM Aminur Rahman, DD , AED, Munshiganj also spoke. Speakers also urged all to plant more timber, medicinal and fruit trees.
