Khoka’s daughter sued for concealing wealth

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against Dhaka city mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka’s daughter Sharika Sadeque for not submitting details of her wealth. The ACC’s assistant director Mohammad Shamsul Islam filed the case with Ramna police on Sunday morning.

Ramna police chief Shibly Noman told bdnews24.com: “The case has been filed under sub-section 2 of section 26 of the Anti Corruption Act 2009.

Islam told bdnews24.com: “A notice was sent to Sharika Sadeque asking her to submit details of her wealth on Sep 4, 2009. According to the law, she was supposed to submit the details within seven working days.”

“Instead, she filed a petition with the High Court and the court stayed the notice. The stay order expired in April. The case was filed after completing all necessary preparations,” he added.

The ACC official also said, “Sarika is a housewife and lives with her husband Iftekhar at 6/2/A Shegunbagicha. However, there is a lot of tangible and intangible property in her name which do not have proper sources. The notice was issued against her for this reason.”
