Nine passengers burnt in Nilphamari-bound bus

A passenger bus traveling from Dhaka to Nilphamari suddenly caught fire near Abdullahpur Tasin CNG filling station in the city Wednesday night leaving at least nine passengers with burn injuries.

Dhaka Medical College Hospital sources said six of the injured were admitted to the hospital, condition of one was stated to be critical.

The injured were identified as Milon, 42 of Louhajang, Munshiganj, van driver Shahidul Islam, 22, of Jaldhaka, Nilphamari, Rickshawpuller Raju, 25, of Debiganj, Panchagarh, Rickshawpuller Subash Roy, 37 of Dumuria, Nilphamari and Faruk, 18 and his brother Khairul, 20, of Jaldhaka, Nilphamari.

The bus of Shanta-Swapna Enterprise started its journey from Mahakhali and caught the fire at about 9-30pm. The reason of fire could not be ascertained immediately.
