Ferry movement on key Mawa-Kaorakandi route has been disrupted due to harsh weather conditions, officials have said.
Although the ferries were struggling to cross the angry Padma at high risk, movement has remained totally suspended between 11am and 1.45pm.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) assistant manager Shekhar Chandra Roy said, “Though the ferry movement resumed, it can stop any moment due to the rough Padma.”
Moreover, life in Munshiganj has come to a standstill due to relentless rainfall. The key roads of the town have gone under water.
The main reason for the flooding is lack of proper drainage, Sadar police chief Shahidul Islam said.
