A miscreant, who was trying to escape after killing an expatriate, was lynched at village Foinpur at Sherajdikhan in Munshiganj Friday night. The locals also detained another assailant from the area.
The victim expatriate was identified as Faruk Hossain, 40, son of Abdul Barek of the village Foinpur, who had come at his home last month from Bahrain after 12 years.
Witnesses said Faruk Hossain was going to his house at about 8:00pm on Friday. Suddenly two miscreants had blocked his way and opened fire pointing his chest when he came near a tea stall of the village.
He was taken to Dhaka Medical Collage Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
When the killers were trying to flee the place leaving Faruk Hossain critically injured, the local people detained them.
The locals had lynched one of the killers, leaving the rest one injured.
The people had also seized a firearm from the possession of injured miscreants.
The lynched killer was identified as Uzzal, 30, resident of Jamalpur and the injured killer was Jewel, 29, resident of the same area.
The reason behind the killing could not be established till the evening on Saturday.
The officer-in-charge of Serajdikhan police
station, Sheik Mahbubur Rahaman, told the New Age that one of the killers had been lynched and the rest one detained with arms.
‘The investigation is underway,’ he said.
A total of 68 people were lynched in the country since January 1, 2011.
