Boy killed in Munshiganj

The Munshiganj police charged batons Tuesday noon in a protest rally at Munshiganj town leaving 10 villagers including 6 women injured. The villagers took to the street carrying the coffin of a minor boy murdered in Tongibari police station. The villagers allege that the police refused to take a case. The injured were identified as mother of the victim Jesmin Begum, Roshna Begum, Morsheda, Nazma Begum, Sufia Begum, Alo Begum, Rasel, Arshad and Sumon.

Jasimuddin,12, a grocery worker, was allegedly killed into at a grocery shop on Monday night at Aldi Bazar under Tongibari upazela in Munshiganj.

When the villagers came at the bus stand area and proceeded to the deputy commissioner’s office, police foiled the rally charging batons upon them. Jasim’s mother Jesmin Begum told the Indepandent that her cousin Mukter, the owner of the grocery shop, killed her son on the false charge of stealing money and hanged him in a warehouse of the bazar. But police did not registered any case against him till Tuesday.
The Officer-in-charge of Tongibari police station M Abdullah said, ‘police found Jasim’s body hanging in the grocery shop. A case has been lodged against Mukter Dhali , the owner of the shop and Abul Dhali. None has been arrested till today. Officer-in-charge of Munshiganj police station Shahidul Islam said they had foiled the protest rally at the bus stand area of the town. But the accusation of charging batons upon the protesters was not true.’
