At least 41 people, including law enforcers and two presiding officers, were injured in separate clashes between the supporters of defeated candidate and law enforcers after the announcement of the result of UP polls at different polling centers in Sreenagar upazila Tuesday night.
Sreenagar UNO Abdul Latif Molla said being angered after the announcement of the poll results at Sufiganj Madrasha center, defeated chairman candidate Abdul Aziz along with his supporters
attacked on them, leaving at least 25 people including presiding officer Golam Maola and eight police injured.
Later, Rapid Action Battalion members rushed to the spot and fired 10/12 rounds of blank shots to quell the situation.
In another incident 15 people, including a presiding officer and five law enforcers, were injured when the supporters of defeated candidate tried to snatch ballot box at North Balasur community primary school center at Rarikhal union.
Later, a team of police led by ASP saiful Islam rushed to the spot and rescued them. The injured were admitted to a local hospital.
A RAB member, Joynal, was injured in an attack by the supporters of defeated candidate at Kukutia KK Institution polling center.
