Transport movement on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway remained suspended for an hour on Wednesday after local people put barricades in Gozaria of Munshiganj demanding uninterrupted power supply in the area.
Sources said the agitated people put barricades at Baluakandi, Bhaterchar and Anarpura points in Gozaria at about 11:00am to protest against power outage in the area
The blockade created a huge tailback on the highway for an hour, reports our Munshiganj correspondent.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Gozaria Md Asaduzzaman and Officer-in-charge of the local police station Arju Miah said hundreds of local people first blocked the highway at Baluakandi and then at Bhaterchar and Anarpura points in the morning.
Transport movement on the highway became normal at about 12:00pm after the locals withdrew the barricades following negotiations with the local administration.
