Two people were killed in separate road crashes at Srinagar upazila here on Thursday. The victims were identified as Rasel Miah, 19, of Bhedarganj in Shariatpur district, and Monir Hossain, 25, of Shyamsiddi village in Srinagar.
Officer-in-charge of Srinagar police station Mizanur Rahman said Rasel and three others were seriously injured in a collision between a Dhaka-bound passenger bus and Mawa-bound CNG-driven auto-rickshaw at Kamarkhula at about 10:50 am.
Of the injured, Rasel died at Dhaka Medical College Hosptal. Three of the remaining injured were taken to different hospitals in Dhaka.
Police seized the bus and the auto-rickshaw, but the drivers fled he scene.
The OC said the second accident took place at Shyamsiddi Aratipara on Shyamsiddi-Srinagar road at about 2:15 pm when a speeding private car crashed into a roadside tree, killing passenger Monir on the spot and injuring four others, including its driver.
The injured were taken to different hospitals in Dhaka.
