The ferry service on Mawa-Kewrakandi route resumed tonight (Sunday) after remaining suspended for over three hours due to innumerable hidden shoals in Padma River.
Sirajul Haque, manager of Mawa BIWTC office informed that ferry service in the route came to a halt in the evening after a Kewrakandi-bound dumb ferry `Lanting Soa` carrying nine vehicles was stranded in a hidden shoal in Padma at Nawdoba turn of Kabutarkhola Channel at about 7:30pm.
The stranded `Lanting Soa` ferry was salvaged by two salvage ships IT-391 and IT-396 which dragged the ferry from hidden char and towed to mid stream at 10-45pm paving the way for resumption of ferry service.
