Teacher held for violating student

A teacher of a government college in the district has been arrested for allegedly violating a Class Xll student. Mohammad Abdullah, 30, an English lecturer of Sreenagar Government College, was arrested on Sunday night.

The court ordered to send him to jail when the police produced him before it on Monday.

Officer-in-charge of the Sreenagar Police Station Mizanur Rahman told reporters that the 17-year-old college girl used to take tuition from Abdullah and that the teacher had violated her more than once.

The parents of the girl were informed of the incident when she shared it with her college friends.

The victim filed a case against the teacher at the police station on Sunday under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act of 2000, the police official added.
