A man shot and killed his father for taking the side of his rivals in Munshiganj Sadar upazila on Thursday. Shafi Molla, 55, was shot by his son Abdul Kuddus Molla, 25, at Shiloi village around 10:00am after having a quarrel with him, Abul Bashar, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said.

A clash erupted in the morning when Bepari group went for fishing in a local pond and Kuddus Mollah and his people resisted them.

At least 10 people were injured and five houses were vandalised during the clash, reports our correspondent in Munshiganj.

Quoting locals, police said Abdul Kuddus shot his father when he took the side of Bepari group, leaving him on the spot.

Police could not arrest the killer son as he fled the scene soon after the incident.

There was a longstanding rivalry between Kuddus Molla and Bepari group, villagers said.
