Two persons were killed and 30 others injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Mawa Highway in Ompara area under Shrinagar upazila of the district Monday. The deceased were identified as Rasheda Begum, 47, hailed from Shariatpur district and bus driver Hannan, 30, hailed from Faridpur.

Of the injured five were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and others were given treatment locally.

Officer-in-Charge of Shrinagar Thana Mizanur Rahman told banglanews that a Dhaka-bound passenger bus of Ilish Paribahan collided head-on with another bus of same paribahan coming from opposite direction in the area, leaving two dead on the spot and 30 others injured.
