At least four people have been killed and several others injured when a Dhaka bus carrying some 35 passengers plunged into a roadside water-filled ditch in Sirajdikhan upazila of Munshiganj district on the Eid day noon.

Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Munshiganj’s Superintendent of Police Shahabuddin Khan told bdnews24.com that the accident took place in Lalbari area around 1:30pm.

Locals started rescue operation following the accident. A team of fire-fighters had already started for the site, the police official added.

The death toll is likely to go up.
