Police detain five Jamaat men along with jihadi books and leaflets in Sadar upazila of Munshiganj Friday morning. Police arrested seven activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islamic Chhatra Shibir early Friday and seized a good number of books on jihad and some sharp weapons from their possession in Gajaria and Sadar upazilas of Munshiganj.
Five Jamaat activists along with books on jihad, leaflets, knives and hatchets were arrested at a rented dormitory in Circuit House area of Sadar upazila, reports our Munshiganj correspondent quoting Serajul Islam, sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station.
The arrestees are: Saidur Rahman, 18, Khairul Islam, 19, Zulfiker Haider, 20, Rahamatullah, 22, and Jamshed Baperi, 31.
They seemed to be preparing for creating anarchy, Serajul added.
Meanwhile, police arrested committee member of Jamaat’s Gajaria unit Habibullah Dhali, 60, and a Shibir activist Mokter Hossain, 30, in Srinagar area of Gajaria upazila, said Shahidul Islam, officer-in-charge of Gajaria Police Station.
Police arrested the duo on suspicion of creating anarchy in the area, Shahidul added.
