BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is expected to visit Hindus affected in a recent attack by miscreants in Munshignaj on Friday afternoon. The BNP Chairperson would start for Munshiganj from her Gulshan residence at 3:00pm, her Press Secretary Maruf Kamal Khan told bdnews24.com.
”She will be visiting Goalimandra Manipara Kali temple there.”
Later, she will address a party rally at Goalimandra Bazar intersection.
Miscreants reportedly vandalised the idol of Goddess Kali and set the temple on fire on Mar 3 night.
“She (Khaleda) is visiting there to stand beside the victims of the brutal attack – the minority Hindus,” Maruf said.
Khaleda’s programme was finalised at a meeting with junior minister Mizanur Rahman Sinha, Shechwashebak Dal General Secretary Mir Sarfat Ali and local leaders Thursday night at her Gulshan office.
Goalimandra Manipara Kali Temple Committee chief Anil Chandra had filed a case over the vandalism and arson at Louhajang Police Station.
Police had arrested Mamun Bepari, 30, from Haldia, Shah Alam, 60, from Kanaksar, Monir Hossain, 42, from Bejgaon and Mohammad Mannan, 50, from Khidirpara areas of the upazila and produced them in the court. They were shown arrested in the case.
The court had sent two of the arrestees on a day’s police remand on Mar 5 and granted them bail on Mar 7. Two others were remanded on Mar 8 and bailed out on Mar 10.
However, a local court had scrapped their bail orders and ruled them to three more days in police custody on Thursday. District Additional Chief Metropolitan Moazzem Hossain issued the order.
