A 4-km long tailback has been created at Mawa with more than 300 vehicles stuck on the road as ferry service was troubled due to high current in the river Padma.
For this, passengers have to face immense suffering during the scorching heat on the highway.
Sekhar Chandra Roy, assistant manager of BIWTC at Mawa, said at present 15 ferries are plying on this route. But due to high current and increase of water in the river, the ferries are plying slowly.
“Some vehicles got stuck on the road for this reason, though we hope all these vehicles can cross the river by tonight,” he added.
