Ferry services have been hampered on Mawa-Kawrakandi route because of crisis of ferries which can run through the gigantic waves in the Padma river.
Under the circumstances, around 150 goods loaded trucks got stranded in the terminals of Mawa and Kawrakandi.
BIWTC assistant manager Shekhar Chandra Roy said three ferries out of 16 were not able to ply due to the strong current in the river. “Even the remaining 13 ferries are facing problems in normal movement.”
Moreover, rain has added the sufferings to the commuters.
Sources at BIWTC said the crisis would not be resolved until the level of upstream water decreased.
