Police have arrested a kidnapper during hijacking a retired Sonali Bank official near Hatlaxmiganj area at Munshiganj city on Sunday.

Witness said a gang of six kidnappers wearing black sunglass addressed themselves as detective branch of police and forced retired Sonali Bank official SM Nurul Islam to enter into a micro bus near Hatlaxmiganj area around 12.30pm.

Nurul Islam was returning home after withdrawing Tk2 lakh from local Krishi Bank branch.

On information, police rushed to the spot, chased the micro bus and found Nurul Islam hand cuffed and also arrested Mintu from his possession.

Another five abductors managed to flee the scene.

Munshiganj Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Yardous Hasan confirmed the abducting and arrest incident to the Dhaka Tribune.

He said: “Mintu was taken to police custody for interrogation and we will conduct a special drive to arrest the criminals soon.”

A case will be lodged in this connection, the OC added.
