A 8-km long tailback has been created on the Dhaka-Mawa road up to Mawa Ghat in Munshiganj on Saturday with the heavy rush of homebound people leaving the capital Dhaka.

As a result, more than 700 motor vehicles now stuck on the road and await crossing the river Padma at Mawa Ghat which is the only way of communication between the capital Dhaka and 21 districts of the South Bengal.

Due to long tailback, thousands of homebound people are facing immense sufferings. Hundreds of vehicles remain stuck between Mawa Chowrasta and Chonbari area of Srinagar. Waiting for hours inside the buses under scorching heat, many were seen walking toward the Mawa Ferry Ghat to reach their village homes on foot.
