Plastic estate to be established at Sirajdikhan: Amu

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu today said the government would establish a plastic estate involving Taka 210.48 crore at Sirajdikhan under Munshiganj district

“The government has decided to set up the plastic estate on 50 acres of land nearby the Dhaleswari Bridge in Sirajdikhan upazila,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the 10th International Plastic Fair-2015 at Bangabandhu International Conference here.

The plastic estate would be established under the initiatives of the state-run Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC), Amu said.

The minister said the entrepreneurs will be able to set up 348 manufacturing units in the estate with the capacity of employing 17,400 people.

With Bangladesh Plastic Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PBGMEA) Chairman M Jasim Uddin in the chair, the closing ceremony was also addressed, among others, by chairman of Bengal Group of Industries Morshed Alam, MP, and deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank M Abul Kashem.
