FBCCI first vice president Monowara Hakim Ali has announced her panel to contest biennial election of the apex trade body.
The 32-member panel “Swadhinata Bebshayee Parishad” will face the race due on May 23 for the term 2015-17.
The panel picks half of the members from chambers and half from associations.
Monowara Hakim Ali, who will vie for presidency, made the announcement at a press conference yesterday.
Dewan Sultan Ahmed, a member of Laxmipur Chamber of Commerce and Industries, declared the panel’s 16 candidates from chambers.
Monowara said she would announce the remaining members from associations soon.
“If elected, we will work to boost economic growth and fulfill ‘Vision 2021’ announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” she said.
She said they would also focus on creating jobs through industrial expansion and ensure more involvement of women in the economic activities.
“Necessary initiatives will be taken so the women entrepreneurs can get bank loans with easy terms and export their products.”
