PM opens power plant in Munshiganj

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated a power plant in Munshiganj via a video conference.

The Kathpatti power plant of Sinha People’s Energy Limited at Kathpatti in Mirkadim of the sadar upazila will be directly connected to the national grid through the Mirkadim grid.

The furnace oil-based power plant in the first phase will produce 52 megawatts of electricity, and later increase the production to 104 megawatts in the next phase.

While inaugurating the power plant on Sunday afternoon, former whip Sagufta Yasmin Emily MP, Advocate Mrinal Kanti Das, MP, and Deputy Adminstrator Mohammad Mohiuddin among others were present at the office of Deputy Commissioner Saiful Hassan Badal, who also presided over the occassion.

In her speech, the PM said when they came to power there was a cry for electricity.

But we have been able to achieve success in the power sector, the PM said.

However, she also urged the people not to waste electricity.
