A nine-year-old girl has been killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Chittagong highway near Vaberchar bus stand in Gazaria of Munshiganj.

The deceased is Sharmita Roy Sumita, daughter of Sukumar Roy of Comilla.

Gazaria highway police sergeant Md Saiful Hasan said: “The girl was run over by a Dhaka-bound ambulance while she was crossing the road with her mother on Saturday afternoon.”

She was taken to a local hospital where on-duty doctor declared her dead, said the OC.
