Girl ‘commits suicide’ for PEC exam failure

A girl who failed in the Primary Education Completion (PEC) examination allegedly committed suicide on Thursday at Champakdi village in Sirajdikhan upazila as she could not bear the pain of the failure.

The deceased was identified as Rahima Akter, 14, daughter of Ayub Ali Sheikh, a resident of the village.

Police, quoting locals, said Rahima, had appeared at the PEC examinations from a local school of Kathaltoli.

After getting her results on the day she became upset and killed herself by hanging herself from the ceiling of the house around 11:30 pm.
Duty officer of Sirajdikhan Police Station Mamun Hossain Mollah confirmed the incident.
