4,200m of Padma Bridge visible after installation of 28th span
The 28th span of Padma Bridge was installed on Saturday morning, making the country’s giant structure 4,200 metres visible.
The span was placed between the 20th and 21th pillar at Jazira Point in Shariatpur around 9am, reports a correspondent.
Padma Multipurpose project Executive Engineer Dewan Abdul Kader confirmed the matter.
“The span was brought near the pillars by a floating crane from Mawa’s Kumarbhog construction yard on Friday.” said Dewan Abdul Kader.
Earlier, the 27th span of the Padma Bridge was installed on March 28.
A total of 41 spans will be installed on 42 concrete pillars to complete the bridge.
On October 14, 2018, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina unveiled the name plaque of the Padma Bridge Toll Plaza at the Mawa end.
When the construction of the bridge is completed, the capital will be directly connected with 21 southern districts through road and railway.
