The conditions of the patients are not critical, Munshiganj civil surgeon said
Ten people from different upazilas in Munshiganj have been infected with coronavirus. The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) informed the matter to Munshiganj Civil Surgeon Abul Kalam Azad in the early hours of Saturday.
On Wednesday, 16 samples were sent to IEDCR in Dhaka, the civil surgeon told Dhaka Tribune on Saturday.
Also, Gajaria Upazila Health Complex sub-assistant medical officer was sent to Dhaka by ambulance for treatment.
“As the medical officer has been infected, therefore the emergency department of the health complex was shutdown, Azad said.
“Upazila health and IEDCR officials are speaking to the people who tested positive for Covid-19,” he added.
The conditions of the patients are not critical, Azad further said.
On March 8, Bangladesh had first confirmed three cases of Covid-19, a disease caused by a new strain of coronavirus.
However, no patients recovered in the last 24 hours, and the number of recoveries stands at 33.
The fast spreading coronavirus, which was first reported in China’s Wuhan in December last year, has claimed 102,734 lives and infected 1,699,631, people across the world till 9:50am on Saturday, according to Worldometer.
At the same time, 376,327 people from across the world have recovered fully from the infection.
Till now, coronavirus or Covid-19 has affected 210 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances.
