Munshiganj woman tests positive for coronavirus after death

The woman died with fever and a sore nose on Tuesday
An elderly woman who died with fever and a sore nose at Mohakali union in Munshiganj Sadar upazila was found to be infected with coronavirus.

Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Faruk Ahmed confirmed the matter and said, the 65-year-old woman died with fever and a sore nose on Tuesday after returning home from Narayanganj.

On information, the authorities collected samples from the body and sent those to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) in Dhaka for testing, he said, adding that the samples were found positive for Covid-19 on Thursday.

Those who came in contact with the deceased woman have already been asked to maintain home quarantine. Other steps will be taken if need, added the UNO.

A total of 24 people have so far been diagnosed with coronavirus in the district while the country’s total confirmed cases are 1572 until Thursday noon.

Bangladesh recorded 60 deaths from the virus infection.
