Four people have been remanded in a case filed over physically assaulting a woman to death in Munshiganj’s Tongibari upazila.

Munshiganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Joshita Islam today granted a two-day remand each for the accused Ramzan Ali Bepari (48) and Al Islam (35) and one-day remand each for Bakul Begum (40) and Anwar Hossain Chayal (43), reports our Munshiganj correspondent quoting court Inspector Jamal Uddin.

The judge also directed to send a 16-year-old accused in the case to Gazipur Juvenile Development Centre, said the inspector.

Earlier yesterday, Khadija Begum (50) died in Bhiti Maldha village of the upazila. Muktar Hossain Bepari, husband of the deceased, filed a murder case against six people at Tongibari Police Station.

“Neighbour Ramzan Ali had a long-running dispute with Khadija Begum over the boundaries of her house. There were often quarrels between them. The last confrontation happened when Khadija went to Ramzan’s house yesterday evening when she was beaten,” said Rasedul Islam assistant superintendent of police (Sirajdikhan and Tongibari Circle).

“She was taken to the Upazila Health Complex in a critical condition where the on-duty doctors declared her dead,” added the ASP.
