A man has been arrested for scamming people by pretending to recruit police constables in Gazaria upazila in Munshiganj.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Md Alam (50) in a drive yesterday, confirmed Munshiganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Abdul Momen today.

He scammed five people and made a total of Tk 6 lakh by making false promises of recruiting them as police constables, SP Momen said.

He added that a police team led by the district’s Detective Branch of police Inspector Abul Kalam Azad conducted a drive last afternoon.

Alam confessed to his crime and later police recovered Tk 6 lakh in cash from his house, he added.

A case was filed with Gazaria Police Station.
