4 JCD leaders, activists arrested in Munshiganj

Detective Branch of the police arrested four leaders and activists of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, the student wing of the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party, after a clash between two factions of the party on the Munshiganj district court premises on Sunday.

Officer-in-charge of the DB Abul Kalam Azad said that the leaders and activists of the newly formed district unit Chhatra Dal president Abul Hashem and the town unit convener Roman Hossain clashed.

The arrestees, including Roman, were in police custody, the OC added.

The district unit JCD president Abul Hashem said that Roman and his followers beat his followers while they went to appear before the court.

On January 26, a five-member committee of the district Chhatra Dal was announced with Abul Hashem as its president and Zahidur Rahman Jamal as its general secretary respectively.
