A case was filed against a leader of the ruling Awami League-backed student organisation Bangladesh Chhatra League on Thursday on charge of rape of a girl at the Munshiganj General Hospital.
A cleaner of a hospital filed the case with the Munshiganj Sadar police station accusing Munshiganj municipality Ward 2 BCL joint-general secretary Sheikh Shakil of raping her daughter at the rooftop of an old building of the hospital on Tuesday night.
Munshiganj Sadar police officer-in-charge Tarikuzzaman said that the police were trying to arrest Shakil.
The hospital authority on Friday formed a five-member probe committee headed by its deputy director Abu Hena Mohammad Jamal Hossain, said civil surgeon Md Manzurul Alam.
The committee will start investigation into the matter from Saturday, he added.
According to the complaint, the victim was at the hospital with her mother on Tuesday night.
A group of 4–5 people, including Shakil, were also at the hospital.
When the crowd at the hospital thinned out, Shakil proposed to the girl approaching her near the stairs at about 12:30am.
Shakil allegedly raped the victim after forcibly taking her to the building’s rooftop as the girl refused his proposal.
Later, the victim was given medical treatment at the hospital.
Accused Shakil could not be reached for comment over the phone.
