A murder case has been filed over the killing of Riyazul Farazi, a 38-year-old resident of Munshiganj, against 500 individuals, including former Munshiganj-3 MP Faisal Biplob, seven chairmen and leaders of Awami League (AL), Chhatra League.
The case was filed today (20 August) by Farazi’s wife, Ruma Begum, sixteen days after he was shot dead in the supermarket area of Munshiganj city on 4 August during the Anti-discrimination Student Movement.
Faisal Biplob has been named the main accused in the case, while another 200-300 individuals were listed as unnamed suspects.

Md Aslam Khan, the superintendent of police for Munshiganj district, confirmed the case details.
“An investigation will be conducted, and necessary legal actions will be taken. Efforts to arrest the accused are ongoing,” he said.
According to the case documents, notable accused include former chairman of Gazaria upazila Mansur Ahmed Khan Jinnah, former vice-chairman of Sadar upazila Nazmul Hasan Sohel, president of Mir Kadim Paurasabha AL and former mayor Shahidul Islam Shahin, among others.
According to video footage and eyewitness accounts from 4 August, approximately 2,000-3,000 AL leaders and activists entered the city armed with weapons and cocktails to attack the student protesters.
Multiple sources have informed this correspondent that these activists were following orders of Mohammad Mohiuddin, district president of Awami League, and his son, former MP Faisal Biplob.
They said they had received instructions via mobile phone and in-person the day before.
Three were killed during the clash between the AL supporters and the protesters.
They were identified as Riyazul Farazi, 35, Md Sajol, 30, and Dipjol, 19. All three were residents of the North Islampur area of Munshiganj.
At least 25 were shot, and over 150 were also injured during the clash that day.
