Expat’s wife murdered in Munshiganj

Nasir Uddin/Shakib Ahmed: A woman was murdered reportedly by unknown assailants at Sirajdikhan upazila in Munshiganj district on Tuesday.

The incident took place on Tuesday night in Uttar Malbadiya village of the upazila’s Madhyapara union.

Lipi Akter, 35, was wife of Malaysian expatriate Awlad Hossain from Manbadiya village and the daughter of Nuru Sheikh from Naising village in nearby Malkhanagar union.

According to police and locals, around 8 PM, Lipi went outside to use the bathroom and did not return. After a while, her children, seven-year-old son Md. Mustakim and three-year-old daughter Ayesha Akter, went outside and found their mother’s bloodied body.

Their cries alerted nearby residents who then informed the police.

Sirajdikhan Police Station officer-in-charge Khandaker Hafizur Rahman confirmed the incident, adding that investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the killing.

He added that Lipi’s body bore signs of injuries of sharp weapon. The police are working diligently to uncover further details.
