At least four individuals, including three sustained bullet wounds, were injured in a gunfight between two rival groups over establishing dominance in Munshiganj Sadar upazila on Friday.
The clash took place at around 1:30 PM in the upazila’s Char area.
The injured individuals are Sakib Molla, 30, Mohiuddin Molla, 35, Akash Molla, 25 and Sabbir Mollah, 22; all are residents of Hoglakandi village under Char Kewar union in Munshiganj Sadar upazila. Three of them were wounded by gunshots.

Citing locals, police said that a long-standing enmity had been existing between two groups named Gazi and Molla groups of Viti Hoglakandi village over establishing dominance. Their animosity flared up in the afternoon, leading to a clash and an exchange of gunfire between the two groups which caused the quartet to be injured. Multiple cocktail explosions were also reported during the gunfight.
Later, locals rescued the inhured and took to Munshiganj General Hospital where the gunshot wounds were referred to Dhaka for better treatment.
Confirming the incident, Munshiganj Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) M Saiful Alam said that police rushed to the spot immediately after being informed of the incident and brought the situation under control. They have also recovered 14 unexploded cocktails from the area.
He further added that the situation is currently under control and additional police have been deployed in the area to tackle any unwanted situation.
