The disagreement escalated into a heated exchange and physical scuffle when Rafsan questioned Rabbi about his online remarks.
An incident involving an armed chase in public reportedly took place in the Islambagh area of Munshiganj on Monday night.
The confrontation stemmed from a dispute over comments made on Facebook.

Local residents said Rokonddoula Rafsan, member secretary of the Haraganga College unit Chatrodol, had been engaged in a quarrel with a local youth named Rabbi. When Rafsan questioned Rabbi about his online remarks, the disagreement escalated into a heated exchange and physical scuffle.
As supporters from both sides gathered, one of Rafsan’s accomplice, identified as Raja, was allegedly seen brandishing a weapon and chasing members of the opposing group.
Saiful Islam, a relative of Rabbi, claimed, “I am the brother of July Shaheed Sajal. Because of a Facebook comment, Rafsan and his men assaulted my relative Rabbi and threatened to shut down his shop. At the time, I was at the police station on other business. Later, I went to the scene with the officer-in-charge (OC) and heard that Raja had chased people with a weapon.”
Rafsan, however, gave a different statement. “A boy kept posting offensive comments on my Facebook page. When I asked him to stop, he insulted me instead. Afterwards, Saiful and another relative, Junayed, threatened me over the phone. I informed my family, and they came to support me,” he said.
Munshiganj Sadar Police Station OC Md Mominul Islam, said, “We went to the scene upon receiving information and brought the situation under control. I have learnt that the family of July Shaheed is preparing to lodge a formal complaint.”
