Ex-Munshiganj MP Mohiuddin Ahmed passes away

Former lawmaker from Munshiganj-1 and senior Bangladesh Awami League leader Mohiuddin Ahmed passed away. He was 75.

He breathed his last around 6PM on Tuesday while undergoing treatment at United Hospital in Dhaka.

According to family members, Ahmed had been receiving treatment in Dhaka after being diagnosed with pneumonia.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter and a host of relatives and well-wisher to mourn his death.

His wife Sanjida Akter currently serves as chairman of the Malkhanagar Union Parishad in Sirajdikhan upazila.Bangladesh travel guide

Mohiuddin Ahmed’s namaz-e-janaza will be held at his village home in Kazirbag village, where he is expected to be laid to rest on Wednesday.

He was active in local politics in Sirajdikhan for decades. He was elected chairman of the Malkhanagar Union Parishad five times and chairman of the Sirajdikhan Upazila Parishad three times before being elected to parliament from the Munshiganj-1 constituency in 2024.

At the time of his death, he was serving as president of the Sirajdikhan Upazila unit of the Awami League.
