Ramisa laid to rest beside grandparents in Munshiganj

Eight-year-old buried in ancestral village
Eight-year-old Ramisa was laid to rest on Wednesday night in her ancestral village in Munshiganj.

Following the Namaz-e-Janaza at around 9:00pm, she was buried in the family graveyard at Mollabari in Madhyam Shialdi village under Isapura union of Sirajdikhan Upazila beside her paternal grandparents.

Ramisa was murdered and beheaded by her neighbour Sohel Rana on Tuesday, police said after primary interrogation.

Sub-Inspector Ohiduzzaman of Pallabi Police Station earlier told The Daily Star that Sohel, 31, the main accused, admitted during interrogation that he had raped the child before murdering her.

Sohel, his wife Swapna Akter, 26, and an unidentified person were accused in a case filed with Pallabi Police Station by Ramisa’s father, Abdul Hannan Mollah.

Police produced Sohel and Swapna before a Dhaka court on Wednesday and court sources said Sohel agreed to give a confessional statement before a magistrate. The unidentified accused is on the run.
