Theft increases in Munshiganj

Incidents of theft are increasing here due to inactivity of law-enforcing agencies. In the last few days, thieves have stolen valuables and cash taka from Kalibari Road, Hospital Road, Bagmamudalipara, Bazaar area, Manikpur and Deonbhog.

The last case of theft happened on Thursday night when thieves stole Tk 80,000 and 50 grams of gold from the house of one Nitai Hazra at Bagmamudalipara.

Earlier on March 25, a thief stole Tk 10 lakh from the iron chest and Tk 2 lakh from the cash box of a grocer shop at Munshirhat area of the district town. A close circuit (CC) camera installed in the shop showed the theft happening from 10:13pm to 10:27pm on the same day.

On March 5, thieves stole 180 grams of gold from the house of Adv. Shahabuddin at Bagmamudali area. But police could not trace out the thieves.

Besides, drugs from the pharmacy shops and computers from school lab were stolen as well.

Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Khayer Faqir said, “It has been a regular phenomenon. We are trying to bring the culprits to book.”
