3 killed in Faridpur road crash

raaaAt least three people were been killed and seven others received injuries when a cattle-loaded Mawa ghat-bound truck from Kushtia plunged into a road side ditch at Piyarpur in Faridpur.

The deceased are Thandu Sheikh, 32 of Jessore district, Shawkat Bepary, 35, of Munshiganj and local rescuer Litu Matubbar,40, of Piyarpur village.

Of the injured, five were admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, reported BSS.

Six cattle heads were killed in the accident that occurred on Monday night.

Locals said the speeding cattle-loaded truck had the accident on Khondoker Nuru Mia bi-pass road near the crossing of the Dhaka – Barisal highway.

The speeding truck also knocked a road side electric pole which collapsed on the truck and caused the death of two people and six cattle heads by electrocution.

A local rescuer, Litu, was also electrocuted, police said.

DC Sardar Sharafat Ali, Police Super Md Jamil Hassan and Sadar Upazilla Chairman Mohtesham Hossain Babor reached the spot and helped the salvage operation with the local people.
