3 killed in Munshiganj road crashes

Three people were killed and seven others injured in two road accidents in Munshiganj’s Gozaria and Srinagar upazilas on early Thursday. In Gozaria, police said a Dhaka-bound microbus lost control and crashed into a static truck on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in the upazila’s Alipura area around 7am.

Two of the passengers died on the spot while four others received injuries. None of them could not be identified immediately.

Bhoberchor Police Camp in-charge Joynal Abedin told bdnews24.com the microbus driver lost control after one of the tyres burst and crashed behind the truck.

In another incident in Srinagar, a Bela Paribahan bus pushed a human-hauler off the Dhaka-Mawa Highway at the upazila’s Bejgaon area around the same time.

One of the passengers, Shahidul Islam, 50, a worker at Muktarpur dockyard in Munshiganj, was killed on the spot while three others were injured. The injured were admitted to a local hospital.

Srinagar Police Station OC Mizanur Rahman told bdnews24.com the Mawa-bound bus was seized, but the driver managed to flee.
