Shaheed Minar plaque unveiled at Munshiganj school

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shaila Farzana unveiled plaque of a Shaheed Minar at Dhamaran Government Primary School in Tongibari Upazila here on Monday afternoon.

She also paid tribute to the language martyrs by placing wreaths at the Shaheed Minar.

In her speech as chief guest, she praised the initiatives of implementing the project of Shaheed Minar. Besides, she also thanked them who gave financial support to build the Shaheed Minar on the school premises.

Managing Committee President Kazi Sabbir Ahmed Dipu presided over the meeting while District Primary Education Officer Taposh Kumar Odhikari, Tongibari Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mohammad Kabirul Islam Khan, Upazila Education Officer Mohammad Hitlaruzzaman, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Mohammad Ariful Islam and Daily Shabbhoter Alo Editor Mir Nasiruddin Ujjal, spoke as special guests.

Head Teacher Nazma Begum gave the welcome speech.

Among others, Upazila Teachers’ Association leader Mohammad Ali Sikder, former UP Chairman Mohammad Mofizul Islam, veteran Awami League (AL) leaders Abdur Rahman Hawlader and Sheikh Mohammad Tofazzal Hossain, Union AL General Secretary Mohammad Motaleb Sheikh, UP Members Ali Hossain Bepari and Mohammad Gani Dhali, were also present.
Later, DC Shaila Farzana visited the abandoned school building area.

She also asked District Primary Education Officer Taposh Kumar Odhikari to take necessary steps for constructing a new school building and increasing classrooms. She also directed the teachers to increase the quality of education.
The Shaheed Minar was built with the initiative of Managing Committee President Kazi Sabbir Ahmed Dipu and financial support of former Student and Women Affairs Secretary of Italy AL Kazi Tuhina Sultana Molly.
