Grinding machine explosion kills welder in Dhaka

The victim was declared dead by on-duty physician at DMCH
A welder died when his grinding machine exploded at his workshop at Dhaka’s Dakkhin Khan area.

The deceased — Hafiz Uddin, 35, was a resident of Munshiganj and worked at Mannan Engineering Worksop at Ashkona.

Zafar Iqbal, co-worker of the victim, said the machine burst around 4pm on Thursday when Hafiz was cutting iron rods, leaving him injured critically.

Hafiz was taken immediately to Uttara Modern Hospital from where he was referred to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in critical state.

Later, he was declared dead by the on-duty physician at DMCH.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Abdul Khan at DMCH police outpost confirmed the incident and said the body has been kept at the hospital’s morgue for autopsy.
