The body of an unidentified man was found in Dhaleshwari river in Munshiganj Thursday in what is believed to be another incident of secret killing and dumping.
Police could only say the victim was around 40 years old, reports our correspondent in Munshiganj.
After finding the body floating in the river near Noyagaon Maddhyapara, locals informed the police.
The victim was clad in a red T-shirt and jeans.
“Two sacks filled with bricks was tied in his back so that the body remains under water,” Shahidul Islam, officer in-charge of Munsiganj Sadar Police Station, told The Daily Star.
Recovering the body, police sent it to Munshiganj General Hospital for autopsy.
The police officer said the man might be victim of secret killings that have been happening recently.
Earlier, police recovered the bodies of seven men in the eight days since December 15 amid allegations that some of them had been picked up by plain-clothes personnel prompting concern among the rights groups about such disappearances and subsequent killings.
The bodies were all recovered from Munshiganj district mostly from the Dhaleshwari river and a nearby water body.
