Sreenagar Jamaat secretary detained

Police has detained nine supporters of the Jamaat-e-Islami including the district secretary during a drive conducted in Sreenagar upazila, Munshiganj.

Law enforcers conducted a drive in Shologhar area around 10:30pm on Thursday upon a tip-off regarding a secret meeting, police officials said.

The Jamaat supporters hurled two crude bombs at policemen, Shreenagar police station Officer-in-Charge Sheikh Mahbubur Rahman said.

No policeman was injured, he added. “11 crude bombs have been recovered. Nine supporters of the Jamaat have been detained.”

The detainees include Munshiganj Jamaat Secretary Alhajj MA Khalek and chief of Shramik Kalyan Federation, the workers’ wing of Jamaat, Md Laknur Rahman.

Others were activists Chandu Mia, Mosharraf Sheikh, Ali Nur, Shamim Molla, Omar Faruk Molla, Hatem Ali and Mohammad Selim Sheikh.
