One arrested with 2kg gold at Dhaka airport

Customs Intelligence officials recovered 2kg gold from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city on Monday. The customs officials also arrested one Rony, aged about 37, in this connection.

Rony, a resident from Shirajdikhan Upazila in Munshiganj, arrived at the airport from Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia at 12:30 am past Sunday midnight.

Customs intelligence men on suspicion challenged him and recovered the gold from his possession in the transit lounge.

Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate Director General Moeenul Khan said the two big gold bars weighting about 2kg were worth Tk 10 million.

He also said Rony had travelled abroad this year 17 times. Legal action was being taken against him.
