Abducted Munshiganj boy rescued in capital

An eight-year-old boy, abducted from Sirajdikhan upazila of Munshiganj on Wednesday, was rescued from near Postagola Bridge in the capital yesterday.

Police arrested one Pavel Majhi, son of Delwar Majhi of Daipara village in Louhajang upazila, for his alleged involvement in the abduction.

Sub-inspector Aminul Islam of Sirajdikhan Police Station said a gang abducted Ibrahim Khalil, son of Tara Mia, from the upazila headquarters on Wednesday.

Later, the gang phoned Tara Mia and demanded Tk 10 lakh as ransom for his son’s release.

Tara informed Sirajdikhan police of the matter and the latter advised Tara to lure the gang for collecting the ransom money so that the criminals could be trapped.

Yesterday, when two of the gang members along with the abductee came to collect the ransom near the Postagola Bridge, the law enforces caught Pavel and rescued Ibrahim.

The other member of the gang, however, managed to escape.
